LASER SYSTEMS ENSIS-AJ 6kW and 9kW
Amada has introduced two new high-power fibre-laser cutting machines, the ENSIS-AJ 6kW and 9kW, which can carry out fast piercing and cutting applications on a wide range of materials. The machines use Amada’s
ByStar Fiber
Bystronic has upgraded its ByStar Fiber system with a 12kW fibre laser and the new BeamShaper function. A newly designed cutting head has also been developed to ensure consistent cutting quality up to a sheet thickness of 30mm. With the 12kW laser, the ByStar Fiber’s cutting speeds increase up to 20 per cent on average (when laser cutting with nitrogen) compared to the previously available 10kW laser source. This increases productivity when processing metal sheets ranging in thickness from 3 to 30mm. The new cutting head offers a slimmer design and fewer components in its interior. The new design requires less maintenance and reduces operating costs, due to the integrated technology being better protected against contamination from cutting dust. Optimal cooling is also offered in the new cutting head, ensuring constantly precise cutting performance, particularly for long-lasting cutting operation with the new higher power laser. The newly added BeamShaper function enables exceptional cutting quality for steel sheets up to a thickness of 30mm. It enables the laser beam form to be adjusted for greater sheet thicknesses and a variety of sheet metal qualities.

OPTICS
Linos Beam Expander 1x-4x
Qioptiq has introduced the motorised Linos Beam Expander 1x-4x, for 515 to 540nm or 1,030 to 1,080nm wavelengths. The motorised variable beam expander enables
adaptation of the focus diameter, focal position and spot quality. Its motorisation
contributes to considerably reduced set-up times and higher repetition accuracy for a wide variety of laser

material processing, display, micromachining, solar and battery applications. The new beam
expander enables an external control that allows for universal and flexible use of the
laser light in production processes to meet the need for different beam diameters and defocusing of the laser. Its fused silica design is able to handle high power and ultra-short pulses, and offers a low absorption broadband
coating that minimises thermal effects. The new beam
expander is interchangeable with Qioptiq’s previous model (2x-8x).

automated variable beam control technology to deliver stable cutting across all material types and thicknesses. The technology can also change instantly between a high-power density beam for piercing and a high-speed, high-quality beam for cutting, thus reducing cycle time. The machines only require a single lens to process thin-to-thick materials, which helps maximise machine uptime and eliminate costly operator errors. Amada’s Auto Collimation technology
is a further stand-out feature of the new machines, as it delivers exceptional beam
EVO 2800
Evosys Laser has released the EVO 2800 universal welding machine for those looking to weld plastics faster and more economically. The new system is suited for use in the automotive sector, as well as in the medical technology and pharmaceutical industries. Possible applications include the manufacture of sterile packaging, microfluidic components and lab-on-a-chip systems.
Depending on the application, the EVO
2800 can be equipped with different laser sources and optical modules, offering a wide area of operation. It is also available with various online monitoring modules to ensure quality during production. In
diameter and focus-point control for high cutting speeds and surface quality, reducing the need for secondary finishing operations. Auto Collimation also produces a wider cut kerf on thicker materials, making for easier part removal from the sheet to reduce handling time. The new ENSIS-AJ machines can process
mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium up to 25mm thick.

addition, the system is equipped with intuitive process software, which enables it to implement a wide range of different machining tasks. With a footprint of
approximately 1m², the EVO 2800 fits into most application environments. It is also virtually maintenance-free and service-friendly, making it suitable for 24/7 production. The EVO 2800 is designed for manual assembly by an operator, as well as for automatic assembly by a handling or robot system.
