FIBER TO THE HOME (FTTH) ARCHITECTURE OVERVIEW

COMMSCOPE

Not all FTTH networks are built the same. Since construction and outside plant account for the majority of total network costs, getting the architecture right has a major impact on the business case. The network architecture can also impact time- to-market, labor/training requirements, future upgradeability, network performance, and ultimately customer satisfaction. This paper provides an overview of two fundamental FTTH architecture categories—centralized and cascaded—that determines where in the network the fiber is split.

HELLERMANNTYTON LAUNCH RANGE OF MDU ENCLOSURES WITH 3D MODELS ONLINE

HELLERMANNTYTON

The range of MDU enclosures from HellermannTyton provide high fibre capacity and flexibility within the multi dwelling unit (MDU) . The range has been designed in a variety of sizes to service the varying sizes of apartment blocks or office buildings. The S5, the largest enclosure in the range, offers up to 432 fibres or 96 connectorised fibre ports. The S3, the middle sized enclosure offers up to 96 fibres or 24 connectorised ports. The S1, the smallest in the range provides 8 connectorised fibre drops, designed for the smaller residential or building unit.

THE NEED FOR 200G MACOM

Today’s optical module providers are under tremendous pressure to enable customers with faster connectivity solutions at volume scale. This fall, MACOM announced the industry’s first complete chipset solution for 200G and 400G CWDM optical module providers servicing Cloud Data Center applications. This solution enables 200G modules at under 4.5 W and 400G modules at under 9 W total power consumption, thus delivering industry- leading power efficiency with a fully analog architecture that ensures extremely low latency and is poised to provide a lower cost option compared to DSP-based offerings.
