LENSES AND OPTICS TIR prism assembly
Innovations in Optics has introduced the 3300P-100 TIR prism assembly that enables on-axis illumination and compact optical system designs.
The 3300P mounts to the LumiBright 3300B series of UV-LED illuminators for high power UV DLP applications such as 3D printing, computer-to-screen, computer- to-plate printing, direct image writing and digital maskless lithography. DLP chips are digital micromirror devices (DMD) made by Texas Instruments (TI). DLP chips are reflective; the illumination
and projection paths to the device share the same space in front of the device. Illumination light enters the 3300P-100 TIR prism assembly and reflects within the prism through total internal reflection (TIR) to illuminate the DLP chip. The reflected
Flat top beam shapers
Edmund Optics (EO) has released new flat top beam shapers. These refractive field mapping optical systems convert a Gaussian beam profile to a flat top profile with near 100 per cent efficiency. Flat top beam shapers convert collimated Gaussian input beams into collimated flat top beams with a uniform density distribution and a flat phase front. As a result of the field mapping optical design, the converted beam features an even intensity distribution, which is stable over great distances. This makes the converted beam ideally suited for holography, microscopy, and system integration. The
Off-the-shelf silicon optics
Jenoptik now offers quick-turn silicon optics to future partners. The new standard solutions will allow customers to test development systems quickly and get to market with solutions in a fraction of the time required in the past. The three design offerings include diode couplers, diode collimators and fibre collimators – which will allow future partner solutions on many platforms in optical data transfer applications. The commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)
collimators and couplers are designed to maximise performance in fibre and diode applications. These lenses will be available in
devices have no internal focusing, so they are suitable for applications that require high power lasers, including material micromachining, welding, and engraving. The beam shapers are available with design wavelengths from 266 to 10,500nm, for common YAG, fibre laser and CO2
laser
sources. Each device operates over a specified wavelength range for laser tuning and the use of multiple laser sources. An optional four-axis flat top beam shaper mount and a flat top beam shaper aligner are also available for ease of alignment and integration into optical systems.

image passes through the prism without reflection for projection to the image plane. The paths separated in glass rather than air space leads to compressed overall path length, improved image quality and reduced back working distance of the projection lens.

volumes as low as 100 to provide benchmark testing, and up to hundreds of thousands for volume production.

supports a telecentric optical system for the illumination path to provide uniform angles of incidence across the entire DLP chip creating uniform black levels for the dark field. The projection axis is perpendicular to the DLP chip so that the telecentric condition also prevents spatial non-uniformities in projected brightness. Ultimate optical efficiency and performance in the 3300P-100 TIR prism assembly is achieved by employing high-quality antireflection-coated prism surfaces, high-quality blackening on metal housing surfaces, and a tightly controlled air gap between the prism sections.
