PRODUCT UPDATE LASERS

Femto 1950-8-T-2500

InnoLas Photonics has extended its line-up of Q-switched DPSS laser families with a new 2µm all-fibre based ultrashort pulse laser, the Femto 1950-8-T- 2500. The laser delivers up to 8W average power at 1,950nm, and is designed for demanding 24/7 applications. The new laser’s head and power supply

are contained within a rugged, 512 x 360 x 185mm aluminium housing, which cuts down system costs significantly without any trade- offs in quality or laser lifetime. The 24 VDC operating voltage and laser control interface enable simple and easy integration of the system.

The 2µm laser is available with pulse widths of either 500fs, or 4ps in a long pulse set-up. Both versions have up to 4µJ pulse energy at repetition rates from single shot to 2,500kHz. An integrated pulse picker is included for fast pulse and power control commands.

The Femto 1950-8-T-2500 and Femto 1950-8-T-2500-LP (long pulse) lasers are used for applications such as 3D structuring of glass and silicon, the resonant ablation of polymers and plastics, OPV, PV and OLED structuring and processing, spectroscopy and gas sensing, and medical surgery. www.innolas-photonics.com

Spectra-Physics Spirit 1030-100

MKS Instruments has introduced its Spectra- Physics Spirit 1030-100, an industrial femtosecond hybrid fibre laser that delivers 100W infrared power and 100µJ pulse energy with 400fs pulses for fast, high-quality micromachining. The new laser offers high flexibility with optional integrated second harmonic generation (SHG) for 50W green output, burst mode, and

32 Avia LX 355-20 Q-switched laser

The Avia LX 355-20 is a new Q-switched, 355nm diode-pumped solid-state laser from

Coherent, which delivers 20W at 50kHz repetition rate, a diffraction limited (M²<1.3) beam, and an expected lifetime of 20,000 hours. As an ideal choice for cutting, drilling and marking in microelectronics fabrication and packaging, the laser can be used for applications such as cutting flex material, chip and mould form marking, IC package trimming, as well as wafer scribing and cutting. A particular advantage of the Avia LX 355-20 is a shorter pulse width that reduces the heat-affected zone, and enables higher precision processing of thinner materials.

Vi40 CO2 laser

Synrad has released the Vi40, a compact 40W CO2

laser for industrial

coding, marking and engraving applications. With Synrad’s new Gen2 tube design the Vi40 delivers a stable, accurate laser beam for precise control and high-resolution processing without external correction optics typically required with other CO2 lasers.

The new laser’s compact size (140 x 110 x 620mm), single-unit construction (combining laser, controller and pump diodes), and three- point kinematic mounting simplifies integration; the only user requirements are 48 VDC power and cooling water.

The laser delivers long, maintenance free lifetime. Harmonic crystal mapping ensures that repositioning of the third harmonic generation crystal can occur automatically without any significant change to the output beam size or power distribution, thus eliminating the need to adjust downstream beam delivery optics after THG crystal shifting. www.coherent.com

Built to perform in demanding industrial

environments, the Vi40 has a wide operating temperature range, and enables real-time temperature monitoring of the laser tube to ensure optimal laser performance with the new temperature broadcast feature. The Vi40 offers 40W of continuous power, excellent beam quality, and 100kHz max pulse frequency. www.synrad.com

triggered pulse output. It also offers adjustable repetition rates from single shot to 10MHz, exceptional beam quality, and includes an integrated pulse picker for single- pulse selection and fast power control for high process throughput. Available in 100W and 70W configurations, the new laser is ideal for machining hard brittle materials including glass, sapphire and polycrystalline diamond, as well as thin metals and polymers. www.spectra-physics.com
