PRODUCT UPDATE LASER SYSTEMS Cube micromachining tool

4Jet Microtech has introduced a new Cube micromachining tool that targets laser applications on or in glass. The tool is able to structure thin-films, cut or drill glass and other brittle materials, with fixed beam and galvo scanner options also enabling other materials processing applications. The tool can be used to process glass wafers or substrates for electronic, optical or

Ensis-3015 AJ fibre laser

Amada has launched the Ensis-3015 AJ 3kW fibre laser CNC cutting machine. The system has no diode module beam combiner, allowing it to offer improved reliability and increased machine uptime. The machine can cut up to 25mm thick mild steel, equivalent to the performance levels of a standard 6kW fibre laser, but uses just half the power to do the same job. Amada’s Ensis technology is capable of changing the laser beam mode in addition to the focal spot size and focus position. The machine also offers single-lens processing for all materials and thicknesses, and features a large-

UV laser marking station

Foba has introduced the M3000-UV 2W UV laser standalone marking station, with an optional integrated camera. The laser is able to mark sensitive material with its low heat level, making it suitable for applications that include materials like silicone, HDPE, PET or PVC. Thin multiple layers of lacquer on translucent plastics can be removed accurately by the M3000-UV. The day-night design also creates brilliant colour effects for best legibility in all lighting conditions, and also creates characters

Lasertec 75 Shape CNC machine

DMG Mori’s new five-axis CNC machine, Lasertec 75 Shape, can be used to laser ablate geometrically defined textures into the surface of moulds, such as those that produce plastic car fittings or electronic housings. Work pieces with a diameter of up to 840mm and heights to 520mm, and weighing up to 600kg, can be processed, or up to 1,000kg with optional tandem drive of the tilting mechanism carrying the rotary table. The machine has a footprint of eight square metres and a door opening of 1,310mm for convenient access.

capacity nozzle changer to cover the full range automatically.

The 3kW Ensis also offers WACS II, a water- assisted cutting system that allows the amount of water to be varied in two stages, providing further assistance when processing thicker mild steel. The Ensis-3015 AJ additionally uses

compressed air cutting instead of standard nitrogen cutting, while offering the same cutting speeds with part quality comparable in many thicknesses. Across a cutting range of 3,000 x 1,500 x 100mm in the x, y and z axes, processing feed rates of up to 100m/min are possible. www.amada.co.uk

The integrated camera enables pre- and post-inspection of parts and marking results, as well as providing exact alignment of the marking relative to the position of the product. This can prevent cost intensive marking errors and scrap can be reduced by up to 80 per cent. Beyond that, an automatic autofocus, easy to operate via Foba’s marking software MarkUS, can significantly speed up set-up time. www.fobalaser.com

repeat accuracy better than 2µm in all three dimensions – combined with CCD alignment cameras, as well as an offset detection, give part accuracy in the single digit micron range. Substrates up to 600 x 600mm can be

processed using the Cube micromachining tool. The 4Jet control suite allows easy import of CAD files and CAD to G-Code conversion. Other features include auto calibration, a vacuum chuck with integrated debris collection, as well as an integrated laser power measurement. www.4micro.de

The Lasertec 75 Shape features a 100W pulsed fibre laser and 3D processing optics with an F-Theta scanning lens. In combination with the NC swivelling rotary table, the laser offers contour-parallel shaping for fast, trouble-free texturing, even in 3D free-form areas of a mould. Rapid traverse speeds of 40m/min provide high dynamics for fast cycle times, while stable ballscrews in the linear axes and comprehensive cooling measures ensure a high degree of accuracy. Offered travels are 750 x 650 x 560mm in the x, y and z axes. http://uk.dmgmori.com
