Every two years, one of the most important international shows for the Hardware industry is held in Cologne. This year under the motto ‘Work Hard, Rock Hard’ the Eisenwarenmesse International Hardware Fair Cologne will be held from 4-7th March. The team from ToolBUSINESS+HIRE Magazine will be attending as usual. It is a great place to see the most up to date products available to the trade from across the world. If you can spare a few days to visit this fair and the beautiful city of Cologne I would thoroughly recommend it. If you visit
www.toolbusiness.co.uk and click on the advert for the fair, it will take you straight to the website where you can find more details and register to attend. Last month I was very privileged to be invited to a press event to prepare for
this international fair. Trade journalists from across Europe attended and, as well as information about the fair itself, we were also treated to a fascinating talk by Richard van Hooijdonk., who is described as a futurist and trend watcher. He investigates trends such as robotics, drone technology, autonomous transport systems, Internet of Things, biotech, nanotech, neurotech, blockchain, 3D and 4D printing, as well as augmented and virtual reality and their impact on various industries. Innovative trends and new technology greatly influence the future, and his message was that it is imperative for the success of every business to embrace new trends. It is hoped that he will be attending the Cologne Hardware Fair in March – well worth putting aside time to listen to his inspirational session if so. We will also be visiting the Executive Hire Show being held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 7th and 8th February. The
first Toolfair of the year will be back at Alexandra Palace in London on 31st January and later in the magazine you can read Peter’s report on Toolfair held at Sandown Park back in November. Peter has also looked back over a very busy year of reviewing products – he wrote 38 in total! You can read his Yearly
Product Review on pages 6 and 7. He has written three more for the beginning of 2018 – the Einhell Power X-Change Brushless Combi Drill, the new Hitachi Cordless Framing Nailer and a range of JCB winter workwear – keeping him snug and warm for the next few months. Be sure to visit the website
www.toolbusiness.co.uk as it is updated on a regular basis with all the latest news of interest to
our readers. Each review from the magazine can also be seen there, with the addition of a video. There is also a condensed version of each review on the WhyBuy page for your customers to find out all they need to know before they buy. As we head into 2018, I hope that the year goes well for all our readers, especially with the challenges of Brexit looming
ever nearer! contents
