School of Holistic Living hosts weekly drumming classes for all levels.
Tuesdays, Sept 6-13-20-27 Experience a structured intro to the foundational skills and concepts of Worldbeat Hand Drumming including hand technique, listening, comprehending polyrhythmic structure, and relating to Clave.
Wednesdays, Sept 14-21-28 Learn correct hand techniques for Middle Eastern instruments: Doumbec or Arabic Tabla, Tareyja (Moroccan mini Dumbecs), Frame Drums (Tar or Doff), Middle eastern Tambourine (Riqq), and the Middle Eastern Bass Drum (Tupan, Tabla Baladi) including principles of construction of both polyrhythmic and pyramidical Middle Eastern rhythms.
Both Tues and Wed classes are from 7:00-9:00 pm. $25

No audition required—just the love of making music and sharing it with appreciative audiences like the VA, retirement homes and clubs. The list of “gigs” varies from year to year. Top hits from Broadway and the movies, folk, holiday and patriotic repertoire are all part of the fun. Sponsored by The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park and led by Director Joni Tassos, rehearsals are held Tuesday afternoons from September to May.
