Vote now! Sailor of the Month AUGUST

MATTEO BARKER (NZL) In Kiwiland the talent seems to flow down the generations better than in some other hotbeds of the sport. Hugo Davies, Merrick Sanderson,

Matias Coutts and now Matteo Barker, son of America’s Cup helm Dean Barker (himself weaned at the teat of Russell Coutts… but only in Cup terms – ed!!). Having now won back-to-back Toyota New Zealand national titles in the Opti young Matteo will shortly start a 29er campaign with fellow young NZ talent Morgan Lay. Don’t bet against them

OR

CHARLOTTE YVEN (FRA) Now a full member of the Skipper Macif sailing team (see here one Charles Dalin), when Yven won the two handed 2025 Transat Paprec,

racing with Hugo Dhallenne, she also became the first woman to twice win this very competitive one-design race across the Atlantic. An engineer by training (again see Dalin and Yoann Richomme) it is stating the obvious to say Yven will be playing an increasing part in the ongoing Macif Imoca programme as it rolls forward to VG 2028

BR3 SPORT JACKET The latest BR3 Sport Sailing Jacket is made with a 4-way stretch material which always delivers excellent freedom of movement, ideal for even the most intense inshore racing. It also boasts an adjustable race-fit hood with a peak that provides effective protection against the elements

JULY WINNER JAZZ TURNER (GBR)

‘A hero to anyone who ever put on a buoyancy aid’ – Michael Godwin; ‘I love Jazz Turner!!!’ – Luca Demetriou; ‘Jazz is an inspirational woman, raising funds to buy boats for Sailability that she then set up at Seaford. My own daughter is a full-time wheelchair user who has got so much from Jazz and sailing‘ – Yvonne Heritage; ‘An appalling childhood, living with a terminal condition which puts all of our own lives into perspective. And she has done all of this on her own without a funder’ – Becky Walford. Seahorse Sailor of the Month comes to you with Musto, Harken Derm and Zhik
