I want to add our feeling, which was that there was no ‘Troy and THS’ separation from the members. It felt like one group and one show, and that is a credit to how hard the team have worked in the back- ground, and bodes well for the future. “The TMB Show is deliberately only one- day long as it tends to concentrate the minds of visitors and suppliers alike, while recognising many independent business- es cannot simply let key staff spend lots of time ‘gallivanting about’ (as they would see it) at shows. For me the atmosphere of the show was purposeful and busy, but relaxed and friendly. There were literally hundreds of


conversations going on at any time.” Stuart Graham | Aerosol Solutions “We had a record amount of orders taken and have lots of enquiries to follow up. Some statistics might be in order here since we all seem to be judged by ‘the numbers’ these days. In previous years, the ‘grand Silverstone wing’ contained two halls of exhibitors’ stands. In 2018, a third hall was added – allowing space for 167 stands and for over 250 diff erent brands to be represented. “Altogether 187 members made the eff ort to attend the show, and suppliers will note that orders placed represented 90% of turnover for Troy.” Ivan Fisk | James Lister & Son “TMB 2018 was one of the most relevant shows I’ve been to in my long career.” Mark Bardwell | Marine Industrial “We’ve come away with a lot more infor- mation about the group and have many members looking to contact us in the coming weeks to see what business we can do with them. “It wouldn’t be a fi ne TMB without the Gala Dinner at Whittlebury Hall nearby. This year, the theme was Halloween, allowing Richard Pymm, and other daring souls to entertain diners with their costumes and fi lmed antics. “My feedback from members was that


the huge 570-seat dinner was great fun, with well-chosen entertainment too. It is always hard to pull off a great dinner party and keep the customers happy too – but Troy seems to be a dab hand.” Trevor & Janet Davenport | Nuffi eld “From our perspective, we thought the show was superb and defi nitely the best yet. The evening was also fantastic, the Halloween themed marquee was exceptional and the dinner and entertainment fi rst class. What the guys at Troy achieve is amazing and hugely appreciated.” Chuck Milne | Toolrunner “I like the Innovation Awards and all this year’s 10 entries were deserving. A supplier representative – timed by Richard Pymm himself – was given 90 seconds to pitch their product to the judges, which is harder than it sounds. “This year the Tyrolit Power Sander was a deserved winner. It brings not only greater speed and versatility to sanding surfaces, it is also safer and easier to use with more effi cient collection of dust too.” Matt Sheen | Metabo “There was a great buzz throughout the day and I’ve had feedback from a number of members of the National Merchant Buying Society, who attended for the fi rst time. They were very impressed and said it’s the best show they have attended.”
