EDITOR: RICHARD HOLLIS:
ONE of the more disorienting things about producing a monthly magazine is that you’re always focusing at least one month ahead, which always seems to make the year whizz by in the blink of an eye.

It’s not just those of us in media though of course; as summer starts to peak, stockists, retailers and suppliers inevitably turn their thoughts towards Christmas ranges, offers and deals. We’ve barely packed away our summer holiday suitcase than we’re talking about festive ranges and perfect gift products.

For some of us, however, the run-up to Christmas begins the moment the last one is over – as Peter Brett was reminded on a recent visit to see Toolbank, who showed him all the hard work that goes into the never- ending goal of the next Christmas promotion. You can read his report on page 22.
Elsewhere, Peter has been taking a look at a clever set of markers from ACER, and the FSA 130 cordless brushcutter from Stihl, which demonstrates that swapping petrol power for battery packs does not mean sacrificing on raw power. Turn to pages 24 and 26 respectively to read Peter’s verdicts.
