Inertial measurement MEMS sensors
The Inertial Labs Kernel-110, 120, 210 and 220 sensors represent a set of compact, self-con- tained strapdown industrial-grade (100-series) and tactical-grade (200-series) inertial mea- surement units (IMU) that measure linear acceleration and angular rates with three-axis MEMS accelerometers and three-axis MEMS gyroscopes. Fully calibrated, temperature compensated, mathematically aligned to an orthogonal coordinate system, the Kernel- 210 and 220 contain 1 deg/hr bias in-run stability gy- roscopes and 0.005mg bias in-run stability accelerometers. The new Kernel-110, 120 IMUs will be superseding Inertial Labs existing Kernel-100 IMU, whereas the Kernel-210, 220 are a miniaturised version of the IMU-P tactical unit. The Kernel series of inertial mea-
surement units is a fully integrated inertial device which combines the newest MEMS sensors technology. This seamless inte- gration allows In- ertial Labs to provide an iner-

switch targets space industry
A new product from Teledyne e2v HiRel provides the Space RF engineering and de- sign community with an off-the-shelf high-frequency RF switch for the most challeng- ing high-reliability space applications. A new rad-tolerant 30GHz, single pole double throw (SPDT) reflective RF switch, model TDSW030A2T, is available from Teledyne e2v that is ideal for use in demanding high reliabil-
ity, space and defence applications and comes off-the-shelf with qualified material. This new RF switch, developed on 0.15 μm InGaAs pHEMT technology, will be avail- able as die and is qualified per MIL-PRF-38534 Class K equivalency for space applications. The TDSW030A2T makes use of monolithic microwave inte-
grated circuit (MMIC) design techniques that deliver superior performance in the Ku and Ka microwave and millimeter- wave bands. The switch delivers low insertion loss, high isolation, fast switching times and high lin- earity across a wide frequency band from DC to 30GHz and attains an input power 1dB compres- sion of 25dBm (typical). Class K equivalent element evaluation is performed per wafer. According to Mont Taylor, vice-president and business de- velopment manager at Teledyne e2v HiRel, while switching is one of the core microwave building blocks, there has been a lack of choice for designers working on high-reliability applications. “Joining our successful release of a 20GHz switch last autumn, this new product is the first 30GHz switch qualified as TID radiation tolerant to 100krad (Si) on the market,” he says.
