COLLABORATION USHERS IN COMPACT BATTERY TESTER
Keysight Technologies has been collaborating with Jiyun Technologies to develop a tailored, compact battery test system for electric vehicles (EVs). Range limitations and safety
concerns remain consumer obstacles for purchasing electric vehicles. To address these concerns and facilitate the rapid launch of new electric vehicles, solid testing and performance verification of battery systems is paramount. Keysight has delivered a

hardware featuring 2.5D and 3D IC architectures. IC designers are seeing
dramatic spikes in IC test complexity due to the rapid adoption and deployment of designs featuring densely packed dies in 2.5D and 3D devices so the Tessent Multi-die software helps to reduce test implementation effort and simultaneously optimise manufacturing test costs. It can also generate die-to-die interconnect patterns and enable package level test using the boundary scan description language (BSDL). As traditional 2D IC design

approaches reach their limit, more design teams are using the power, performance and form factor advantages that 2.5D and 3D IC architectures can deliver. But deploying these schemes in new designs without first establishing a DFT strategy that acknowledges the challenges these architectures present can raise costs and undermine aggressive timelines. It is therefore necessary to use evolving DFT technology.

tailored battery test system (BTS) to Jiyun Technologies, which includes the company’s regenerative power supplies (RPS7900 Series), Data Acquisition System (DAQ973A), Controller Area Network Interface (CAN) Bus communication interfaces and other hardware products. The dedicated test software used in the BTS was adopted from Keysight’s PathWave software portfolio and the custom system can reach 1,000V maximum output, a current level of up to
540A and a maximum power level of 180kW. Keysight optimised the BTS to
be compact while meeting the needs of tailored battery pack testing. In addition to collecting basic information such as battery voltage, current and thermal data, the battery management system (BMS) is also integrated into the communication structure to efficiently gather data and provide access to all parameters through a single software interface.
It is based on regenerative
power components to achieve 90 per cent power efficiency that reduces operational costs while minimising heat dissipation, as well as reducing the associated costs of required cooling systems. “The testing needs for electrical vehicles will pose a challenge for the foreseeable future and depending on specific customer needs, products need to be adaptable,” stated Jian-Rui Ma of Keysight Technologies.
