EDITOR’S NOTE Funding commitment kicks off 2019

A happy new year to all our readers! And, what a start to 2019, with long-awaited news of an

increased budget for NHS mental health services. The recently-unveiled NHS Long Term Plan provides a

blueprint showing how to best use Government funding to ensure the NHS is fit for the future (p7). And it makes a renewed commitment that mental health

services will grow faster than the overall NHS budget, creating a ring-fenced local investment fund worth at least

investment in his Spending Review later this year. This may offer further insight into exactly where the cash will be spent, and mental health services will undoubtedly benefit. So, for those who deliver mental health services; who help to design, build and run

them and the product manufacturers whose innovations are changing the way we deliver facilities – the opportunities are still there. And, over the next year, mhdf will continue to bring you all the latest news and features to help you better understand the market.
