The Magnetic Bearing compressor, now in service on over 100 naval vessels, allows the chilled water plant to run completely oil-free and the performance. The ability to operate oil-free has numerous advantages: a less complex system design, reduced maintenance and increased system reliability pressure to drive oil around the system. The system can therefore operate at the ‘real’ seawater condition and, at low load, resulting in savings of up to 80 percent compared to conventional systems.
