Popular Cardiff development receives residential development of the year award

Lovell Homes’ popular Te Mill development in Canton, Cardiff, has been named as the Residential Development of the Year at Insider’s Wales Property Awards. Te project was nominated by Powell Dobson Architects, who designed Te Mill, which has successfully transformed the former paper mill into a thriving and sustainable residential community which will provide 800 homes across the 53-acre site. Te Mill, which is a partnership between Lovell Homes, Tirion Homes, Principality Building Society and Cadwyn Housing Association, has provided opportunity for growth for the local construction industry through Lovell’s commitment to giving back local resources. James Duffett, regional managing director at Lovell Homes South Wales and South West said: “We are thrilled to be awarded this title. We can’t thank our dedicated team enough for their continued enthusiasm and hard-work throughout this project. “We are delighted that all of our effort and dedication is being recognised and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for Te Mill. “Lovell Homes is also proud to have worked in partnership with other incredible partners to see this achievement come to life. We hope to continue to flourish alongside them and continue to work towards a common goal.” David Ward, CEO at Tirion, said: “We are thrilled to have won this prestigious award and truly hope people will feel able to set down roots in our new community. “It has been a long and sometimes challenging road to get to this point and we are grateful for the commitment shown by our partnership with Principality Building Society, Welsh Government, Cadwyn and Lovell in bringing the project to fruition.” Ian Bailey, head of housing strategy at Principality, said: “Collaboration and partnership were key words from the Welsh Government’s Affordable Housing Review and there can be few better examples of this across Wales. Location close to schools makes Weston

Meadow perfect for teachers Liz and Tom Liz and Tom Killigrew are happily settling into their brand new home at David Wilson Homes’ Weston Meadow development in Calne. And the development’s close proximity to local schools is an added bonus for the couple. “We are both teachers - I am at The Corsham School and Tom is at Yate Academy - so we wanted to be closer to both schools,” said Liz (35). “Weston Meadow was an excellent option for us, not only because of its location but also for the quality of build here. “David Wilson Homes is known for the style and space of its house designs, and our choice - the Hadley - is perfect. It is a large family home with a kitchen/dining room space which opens out onto the garden. We also have a garage and double parking area.

“The layout of the house was a huge attraction - with its large kitchen and easy access to the garden. Add to that this beautiful area, close enough to Chippenham for the train line and shops, and the great green space at the back,
