Barratt Homes shows support for South Wales children’s cancer charity

Colleagues from Barratt Homes in South Wales have been visiting LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity - to see for themselves how money raised is being spent by the housebuilder’s official good cause. Best-known for its on-site family accommodation at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, the charity supports children who are receiving treatment for cancer, and their families. Its catchment stretches from Chepstow in the south to Aberystwyth in the north - with 70 new cases diagnosed every year. “LATCH is crucial to many young people and their families in the areas where we build homes - and we are keen to support this vital community resource in any way we can,” said Barratt Homes managing director Steve Williams. “We were honoured to visit the Rainbow Ward oncology unit at the hospital - aſter raising £21,000 towards an upgrade of facilities and surroundings here. “Te charity provides social and welfare support to ease the huge financial and emotional burden places on families with a child in treatment -

and this is of enormous benefit to thousands of people living in the area. “Our team is determined to do everything possible to help LATCH provide this wonderful support - and we have been raising money through a number of activities over the last 12 months.” Stephen Price, from LATCH, added: “Te Rainbow Ward is in desperate need of updating, so it can reflect the current treatment plans of children receiving treatment for cancer and leukaemia. “Te aim is to completely transform the look and feel of the ward - and to re-think its entire structure. Tere are also plans to create a much larger playroom, and to add immersive light and sound technology to ensure children here have the best and most engaging environment possible. “We really appreciate the extra help we are receiving from everyone at Barratt Homes in South Wales, as a result of their tireless fundraising efforts. Tis support does make a huge difference to those who, through no fault
