Strangers on a Train

Comedian gives behind the scenes insight in festival life

Christopher Harper (Coronation Street), John Middleton (Emmerdale), Jack Ashton (Call the Midwife) and Hannah Tointon (Mr Selfridge) are the leads in this brand new production of the spellbinding thriller, from the same team that brought you the critically acclaimed and phenomenally successful Gaslight. A fateful encounter takes place between two men in the dining carriage of a train crossing America. Guy is the successful businessman with a nagging jealousy. Charles is the cold, calculating chancer with a dark secret. A daring and dangerous plan develops from this casual conversation setting in motion a chain of events that will change the two men’s lives forever. Strangers on a Train is at the New Theatre until Saturday 31 March 2018. Evenings 7.30pm; Saturday Matinees at 2.30pm. Tickets from £14. For more information please call the box office on (029) 2087 8889 or visit www.newtheatrecardiff.co.uk

Welsh foodies are being offered a unique behind the scenes insight into the Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival ahead of this year’s event, thanks to Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert. In 2017, the famous funny man filmed an episode of his much-loved Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience programme at the long- running Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival which takes place over the Whitsun May Bank Holiday weekend (26th and 27th May). The show was shown on BBC One Wales on 29th March, but you can still catch it on iplayer. The Festival has been a hot date on the foodie calendar since 2004 and in 2017 Rhod spent the event working as a street food trader; making and selling his own curry with all profits going to Children in Need. Polly Wilson, Festival Manager, said: “Rhod was a welcome addition to the Cowbridge team

and his curry went down really well. With so much going on at the Festival I’m not sure that everyone realised Rhod was there and many did a double take when he served them their curry. “I’m looking forward to watching the programme and seeing lots of familiar faces and hopefully it will get everyone excited for this year’s event.” With over 100 exhibitors, visitors to the festival can

expect live demos from a number of local chefs and producers, as well as plenty of delicious food offerings to enjoy onsite and at home. The festival’s open-plan layout, with a mixture of marquees and colourful traditional market stalls provides a spacious area for guests to experience some of the very best produce on offer in South Wales and beyond. Tickets for the event are

available for both day entry and full weekend access, and include discounts for visitors across all sites. Children under 12 can enjoy the festival for free and there is a complimentary Park and Ride service running from both sides of town. Ticket holders receive discounts and access to additional activities and town traders also offer promotions to ticket holders.
