Music • Events • Movies • Theatre • Comedy • Sports Sounds of Simon • 18 Nov • St Donats Arts Centre

From Hey Schoolgirl, released in 1957 when they were known as Tom & Jerry, all the way through to the hits from the Gracelands album, they are all here: The Sounds of Silence, Homeward Bound, Scarborough Fair and into Paul Simon’s amazing solo career with songs like Late in the Evening, Fifty Ways to Leave your Lover. Lose yourself to nostalgia as the full band play all the hits that have established Paul Simon as one of the most successful songwriters of all time. Paul and Art are played to perfection, bringing in elements of their famously fractious relationship, as well as replicating the beautiful harmonies flawlessly. With video clips, stories, and memories from the last 50+ years, this is a wonderful show filled with excellent music, nostalgia, and a genuine love for some great musicians.

Wythnos yng Nghymru Fydd (Opera by Gareth Glyn and Mererid Hopwood) • 23 Nov • Taliesin Arts Centre

Islwyn Ffowc Elis’ vision of the future of his homeland – part utopian, part dystopian - is now realized on the operatic stage in a thrilling version by Wales’ foremost creative artists, composer Gareth Glyn and poet Mererid Hopwood. On the 60th anniversary of the novel’s publication, the world’s only Welsh-language opera company brings together a stellar cast of native singers to breathe musical life into this famous cautionary tale of love, loss, community and belonging. The opera is written in Welsh, but thanks to the Sibrwd mobile phone app., performances will be wholly accessible for non-Welsh speakers. The opera is presented with the kind permission of the Islwyn Ffowc Elis Estate and Gwasg Gomer.
