Lovell peak performance nets £3,300 for Cancer Research Wales
Hikers from Cardiff partnership homes developer Lovell battled driving winds and snow to raise more than £3,300 for Cancer Research Wales, tackling a night-time charity trek up South Wales’ highest peak. A 19-strong team from the company’s South Wales and South West region – calling themselves the Lovell Lunatreks – successfully completed the 9km Brecon Beacons Night Hike, climbing 886m above sea level to the top of Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons National Park. “It was nigh-on pitch black as we picked our way through snow driſts with a fierce wind at the top taking temperatures down to minus three degrees,” says Lovell senior estimator Gary Pillinger. “What is an exhilarating walk in
and J T Expeditions for looking aſter us all so expertly and to the many supporters who generously contributed to our fundraising total.” Lovell regional managing director Kate Rees adds: “Well done to our super-hardy team of walkers for achieving their goal despite difficult weather conditions. It’s fantastic to have raised such a substantial amount for the important work of Cancer Research Wales funding cutting-edge research in
universities and hospitals
across Wales. We’re incredibly grateful for the many donations received from family,

the best of conditions became a challenge even for seasoned and fit walkers – and considerably more testing for some of us ‘desk
dwellers’ - but the conditions made the personal achievement feel so much greater. We hit the summit just before 10pm
and celebrated before a knee- crunching descent down the slippery slopes. A big thank- you to Cancer Research Wales

Local housebuilder Barratt Homes South Wales has received the maximum 5 star rating in the new Home Builders Federation (HBF) annual New Homes Survey. Te number of stars awarded is based on responses to the question “would you recommend your builder to a friend?” For Barratt to have been awarded 5 stars means that more than 90% of its customers would recommend their homes to a friend. Barratt is currently the only major national housebuilder to be rated as 5 star for nine years in a row, having first been awarded the accolade back in 2010. With 2018 also being the 60th anniversary year for Barratt, the new 5 star rating award is a double celebration for the housebuilder.
recommendation scores. Stewart Baseley, executive chairman of the Home Builders Federation, said: “Achieving high levels of customer satisfaction is hugely challenging. It requires leadership from board level downwards and commitment from all areas of a housebuilding business and is a credit to every member of staff. A 5 star rating is not easy to achieve and is a very positive endorsement of the processes, systems and culture in place and should provide customers with real confidence in Barratt and the homes they build.” Steve Williams, managing
director at Barratt
Homes South Wales, said: “We are very proud to be independently rated as a 5 star builder, and to be the only major national housebuilder to have 5 stars for nine years in a row. To us this is the most important industry award which is why we put so much effort into building high quality homes in the first place and then looking aſter our customers as much as possible. It is great to know that more than 90% of our customers would recommend us to a friend.” For a full list of the customer recommendation scores from every participating homebuilder, visit:
