Sword & Trowel 2018: Issue 2
ENCOURAGEMENTS IN COLOMBIA News from Pastor César Garcia, Redeeming Grace Baptist
Church, Pereira T
HE Lord has been with us to bless in all circumstances and we look to
him in the ever-increasing demands of a Sunday morning congregation which now exceeds 80. The number of friends and brethren attending our evangelistic services has increased to 40-45. Attend- ance at Bible studies remains at 30-35. Encouragingly, prayer meeting attend- ance has gone from 5 to about 15. In the last few months there have
been at least 4 people who had previ- ously professed faith in the Lord who have come to realise that they were never saved. We have had two baptism days, the fi rst in August and the second in November. A total of 12 people were baptised, six of whom were converted by God’s grace under local ministry. Glory be to him alone. One new mem- ber has joined the church, making a total of 10 members.

Recently we held a fi rst Saturday meeting for the Sunday School chil- dren, when 30 attended, plus some parents who all watched a fi lm and heard an evangelistic message. So far, we have been able to divide the chil- dren into two groups, above and below 8 years old, which is a start towards a Sunday School structure. The number gathering on the Lord’s
Day morning has now well exceeded the 70+ capacity of our venue. At present, our fi nances do not permit us to rent a larger property, which would probably cost us some £400 a month more than the modest £150 that we currently pay. So, we pray for an increase in offerings and wisdom to resolve the issue as soon as we can.
