ST LUCIA UPDATE T
News from Pastor Peter Samuel, Patience Baptist Church, Anse-la-Raye, St Lucia, Windward Isles
HE church is doing well by the grace of God, with the members happily serving together. A man who has been attending for many years, who helped us to construct our building in Anse-la-Raye and whose wife is one of the oldest members of the congregation, has been attending church more regu- larly and made a profession of faith a few weeks ago. We hope to baptise him next year. Sunday School contin- ues to do well but not without its struggles. The numbers are fairly good but the children are not as consistent as those of the past. We are thankful to God that we can continue with this ministry. We are planning a Sunday School seminar in mid-January
next year for all three reformed churches on the island. Please pray that the members from the other churches will see the need to attend and will be practically blessed. It is now just over a year since I started the television programme. The Lord has been good to us as we are on both television and radio and do not have to pay. Many people from our area who will not come to the church are watching the programme. May the Lord bless their souls. After a whole year of waiting,
we were fi nally able to put the windows and most of the exter- nal doors on the new building in Castries at the end of October. It has been a testing time for us but the Lord knows. The win- dows came about one month before but the weather was very bad and we couldn’t fi nd skilled workers to fi t them because they had mostly gone to work in the islands devastated by Hurricane Maria last year. We have now begun to fi t the burglar bars and hope that we will be able to complete the electrical work soon. We have suffi cient funds to do this and to complete the sanitary facilities but we still have a long way to go.
Pastor Samuel studied at
the LRBS from 1992-94 and is supported by the Tabernacle’s Overseas Ministry Fund. See page 35 for details.
