Remote control Avant backhoe

A version of Avant’s 260 backhoe is now available with radio remote control. This allows the operator to stand next to the unit while digging and have an unrestricted field of vision to the work area. This can

be useful for tasks undertaken for utilities, in cemeteries and similar places where space is limited and exact results are required, says the company, which will be exhibiting at Saltex. The backhoe has a proportional control valve for smooth operation

and precise movements of the booms and bucket using joysticks on the remote-control unit, which has an approximate range of 100m.

Tufftruk’s portable Tuffbelt conveyor system comes in 3m Mini and 4.5m Maxi sizes. The units can be positioned at any angle via a removable support stand, and can be linked together to move materials over longer distances. The manufacturer says that the belt speed of 24m per minute achieves a productivity rate of 50 tonnes per hour. A selection of hopper sizes are available. The Tuffbelt can

be used alongside Tufftruk’s battery powered Truxta.

This mini dumper can now be fitted with a retrofit Power Tip to increase the skip discharge tipping height to 252mm, and the Power Tip Plus which gives a height of 589mm.

HSC expands its portfolio

The Hire Supply Company (HSC) reports that garden machinery sales have been positive this summer compared to last. In particular, there has been an increase in sales across its Active garden machinery range, notably the ‘ultralight’ long reach hedge trimmer and long reach pole pruners (pictured). Heavy-duty landscaping equipment

such as Barreto and Dosko machines continue to be popular. The former machines, which include rotavators and trenchers, come with a four-year warranty as standard, while Dosko root and stump grinders have a two-year tool hire warranty. A new launch is the Weber CF1 MK11 350cm forward

compaction plate, developed after extensive market research by HSC. Also new is the SRV300 trench rammer with a 95mm width shoe designed for use when laying fibre optic cables in trenches just 100mm wide.
