EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW continued

Being based in

Ireland, few sales reps make the effort to visit us. So in one day we can visit the Show and get to see all our

suppliers. It is one of the most

important dates in our diaries every year, and it is one of the most

significant buying opportunities for us. We bought equipment from Hire Supply Co, including heaters, pumps, vacuums and fire

extinguishers,

and we ordered three more VB-9 lighting towers from Ray Caulfield at Generac. We bought two Thwaites 1-tonne Hi-Tip dumpers, distribution boxes from MHM, two more display stands with safety equipment from OX Group for our showroom, and stickers from Atlantic Coast. The week after the Show, we ordered two Bona floor sanders, and we have taken delivery of a Man’Go access platform from Manitou for evaluation. We also discussed the latest Syrinx software developments with Higher Concept. The Show was very well organised, and we are always made to feel very welcome. More overseas visitors should make the effort to attend.

The varied range of suppliers encouraged discussions regarding new hire revenue streams which we had previously never considered. It was, as always, a great opportunity to discuss innovations with suppliers, target specific deals, as we did with Youngman, and catch up with like-minded hire enthusiasts. The evening Party gave another opportunity to squeeze suppliers’ prices, followed by the usual ‘putting the world to rights’ in the bar. Two days allowed just the right amount of time to see every stand and talk to all our key suppliers. Next year’s Show dates are already on our calendar.

The event always adds great value to the industry. It gives you the opportunity to network and catch up with key suppliers. You can find out what is new, what has changed and what is round the corner, and you can do some good deals on the day. It’s also good to catch up with old friends and colleagues to exchange ideas and, possibly, do business with one another. I’m looking forward to the 2017 Show and, before that, the regional Road Shows.

As always,

we had two fantastic and beneficial days at the Show, which really is a must- attend event. We placed orders with Euro Towers, Altrad Belle, Obart, Armorgard, Safety Lifting and Hire Supply Co, and we have since done business with Trelawny and Dustcontrol. Many more purchases are planned over the next few months. I also spent time talking to two suppliers of GRP tower, discussing the possibility of adding this product to our fleet. We are already looking forward to next year’s Show.

Another great Show, and each year seems to get bigger and better, with additional new exhibitors filling every corner of the Ricoh Arena. When I arrived at 8.45 on the first day the place was already buzzing, badge collection was efficient as ever and the complimentary bacon butty and coffee went down really well.

Having spent the day catching up with suppliers, long-standing hire industry colleagues and friends, all I can say is, well done the to the Show team. Thank you for organising a great exhibition, keep up the good work and I hope to see you all again next year.
