Golf challenge for HSC and Artisan

Hire Supply Co (HSC) and Artisan Hire Centre went head-to-head in a golf match held recently at Bowood Golf and Country Club in Wiltshire. The event was donated by Artisan as one of the lots in the charity auction held during our West & Wales Executive Hire Road Show in Bristol last December, and HSC was the highest bidder. Pictured, from left, are

Artisan’s Chris and Roger Comer, and the HSC team of Gary McWilliam and Mark Richards. “We played an individual and team Stapleford,”

Gary told EHN. “It all started brilliantly for HSC, parring the first four holes and being four up at the tenth. Chris and Roger then decided that enough was enough, and started to play some inspired golf, clawing back the points. “It was very hot and the heat may have had something to do with the

collapse of the HSC team, who failed to win another hole. By the eighteenth, the lead was down to one. Ultimately, Chris sank a birdie putt to win the par four last hole and level the match.” The individual scores ended with Mark first and Chris second, followed by Roger and then Gary. A re-match is already being arranged.

Generac secures Dutch order

Generac Mobile Products has secured an order for more than 150 of its V20 mobile lighting towers from the Dutch company Collé Rental & Sales, which has depots in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. The machine was launched by Generac earlier this year

to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its TowerLight brand. It has gull- winged doors for a distinctive appearance and to facilitate access for maintenance, and a rear door provides entry to the control

panel. It has a quoted noise level of 58db(A) at 7m and incorporates LED lamp heads. The control panel, made by Generac, has a digital

display that can be programmed in multiple languages. Collé Rental & Sales says this was a key purchasing factor, as the machine can be set appropriately for users throughout its European customer base.

More Dromad fleet investment

Dromad Hire reports that it has continued to make a significant investment in equipment. Seamus Byrne, MD of the Dundalk-based company, said, “In the second quarter of 2017, we invested £1m in additional plant and access platforms. June and July in particular were busy months, with new stock arriving almost weekly.” Recent additions include Yanmar 2-tonne and 3-tonne zero

tail swing mini excavators, Snorkel micro scissor lifts and articulated electric booms, JCB telescopic handlers, a Manitou 12m diesel articulated boom and 10m electric mast boom, MacGen 45kVA and 100kVA towable generators, and a Hinowa 15m spider lift. Dromad has also added two more service vans, bringing its total to four, offering customer support and 24-hour backup

Off Grid launches hire initiative

To meet demand for alternative, clean and cost-efficient temporary power, Hybrid Power Hire Ltd, based in Rugby, has been established as a specialist hire and re-hire business by manufacturer, Off Grid Energy. Off Grid, which makes the ‘gridtogo’

and PowerCube ranges, says it recognises the need for specialist knowledge to properly install and manage hybrid systems. “We have set out to make both our technology and expertise available to the plant and power hire markets so they can successfully deliver what their customers are demanding,” said CEO Danny Jones. Barry Hughes has been appointed to manage Hybrid Hire Power’s day-to-day operations and has over 20 years’ hire experience from working at Hewden. PASMA appoints new Chair

Gillian Rutter has been appointed as the new Chair of PASMA. She has been a member of the Association’s specialist Hire & Assembly committee since 2013. She joined a scaffolding company straight from school in 1988 and was quickly

promoted to the job of hire controller. Two years later she moved to an East London-based tower specialist where she spent the next 25 years helping to grow the business, latterly as MD. She owns and runs Skyward Access Training, based in Romford, and is also a Director of Hire Access Ltd, a Hirer/Dealer and Hire & Assembly member of the Association.
