Versatile vac from Karcher
Karcher’s NT 611 Eco K wet and dry vacuum cleaner is designed for handling large quantities of fluids. It includes a pump to transport the collected dirty water through a discharge hose to a point where it can be drained away. This means that clean-up operations do not have to be interrupted to carry the machine away for manual emptying. The 800W pump delivers up to 330 litres per minute and can overcome height differences of up to 12m, says the manufacturer. If the water level in the 55-litre container reaches capacity, float switches turn off the fan to protect it from damage, turning it on again when the level drops to normal. The vacuum can also be operated without the pump.

T-T Pumps has launched a range of mobile diaphragm suction models for fast de-watering applications. The PuddleMate line-up of pre-assembled, portable units have the capacity to pump nuisance water containing small solids and silt, such as is encountered in emergencies. They incorporate a dry-run design and have interchangeable nozzles. For more demanding environments, the PuddleMate Pro has an adjustable, quadruple diaphragm design and comes with accessories for the efficient removal of mud and other solids. Both the PuddleMate and PuddleMate Pro are available in 230V and 400V versions.

Porta-Dry mobile dehumidifiers from Calorex are designed specifically to provide rapid drying solutions and humidity control and, the company says the units are built to withstand the rigours of construction sites and hire-related wear and tear. The refrigeration circuit within the machines is designed so that energy removed from the air during the dehumidification process is converted into usable heat. Calorex claims that, typically, for every 1kW of energy that a machine consumes, it will give out 2.5kW of heat. It also says that, by operating Porta-Dry dehumidifiers in conjunction with Porta-Air fans to provide greater air distribution, drying times can be shortened by up to 40%.
