who designs a strategy with a relocation policy providing for accommodation, and subsistence not only for the employee, but also for the partner and family. Historically, the global mobility function therefore
reinforced
employer duty of care and the importance of employee engagement, extending its reach to family. Some organisations had previously felt uncomfortable about straying into the realms of family life, but global talent shortages were already shifting the emphasis to include families to overcome resistance to relocation, especially from families and dual- career couples. During the pandemic, leaders
and wellbeing teams opened up the conversation about the very real concerns employees had for their loved ones. They started to tune into organisational wellbeing support and emerged from the pandemic more connected. As we return to work back in the office, the case study stories concentrating on the wellbeing lens will resonate with many global mobility professionals. As Andy Rhodes says, “By
opening up a conversation with our people now, we can start to assess their needs and tune in our organisational wellbeing support. This will undoubtedly help them to recover so that our organisations can emerge from the global pandemic more connected, more empathetic and more inclusive.” With the extra dimension
global mobility teams can add, the recovery should be accelerated for all organisations working in an international context.
“ By opening up a conversation with our people now, we can start to assess their needs and tune in our organisational wellbeing support.”

On June 9, the Future of Work Festival will help open up such conversations across global mobility, leadership across multiple disciplines and different industry sectors. We will bring together wellness experts to tell their stories, including some of the case studies highlighted by the book, with discussions led by Ian Hesketh. In addition, we will introduce our
audience to ‘Powered by Purpose’ author and award winner, Sarah Rozenthuler, who will reinforce the importance of alignment of individual and organisational purpose, as well as the role of good dialogue in moving organisations and people through change. This is a chance to learn from others and help shape the future of work.
