This is Harken’s new ceramic bearing mainsheet system for Grand Prix catamarans. It was reconfigured quickly and often between training sessions until it fit sailing styles perfectly. Its odd geometry allows the sheaves to interlock for max mast rake when fully trimmed. Its ceramic bearings allow small crew members to achieve proper leach tension without pumping their legs, which unnecessarily pumps the rig tip. It’s an example of “quasi-custom” at Harken. Anyone can buy it. Far fewer should. Why? So perfectly evolved for its competitive environment, it’s perfectly wrong for most any other application.
