New Boats Table
in association with the Spinlock Special Projects Team Top man top result (in prospect)
We know the Dynamic Stability System team are on top of their game but they have now teamed up with Volvo winner Stu Bannatyne to help them create an even better playpen
Infiniti 52R Sitting a little above the race-winning DSS46 Maverick the next mid-sized offer from Infiniti Yachts takes all the lessons learnt, along with some useful trickledown from the recently launched Baltic 142 DSS Canova to deliver a futuristic-looking light-displace- ment racer (7,400kg*) –with what in time may prove an even more interesting cruiser-racer option. In grand prix guise the Infiniti 52R is a full-on race yacht designed
to take maximum advantage of the performance benefits of DSS with the combination of high dynamic righting moment and light displacement the system makes possible. DSS also avoids the need for super-deep draft, though at 3.75m this new yacht is certainly no beach hopper (the cruiser-racer Infiniti 52RC has a slightly reduced draft of 3m). Well-suited to race coastal and offshore courses all over the
world, our new 52-footer is expected to prove competitive under all three main rating systems: IRC, ORC and, as recently demon- strated by Maverickduring her Transpac debut, also under the ORR. Developed working closely in conjunction with four-time
Whitbread/Volvo winner – and DSS enthusiast – Stu Bannatyne, the Infiniti 52R was developed to fulfil the wishes of a number of potential clients who had approached us looking for a yacht that would provide a significant performance increase over current offerings while also able to race with 50-60 per cent of the crew traditionally required to manage such a powerful design safely. Fifty-two foot has traditionally been a good size of yacht to perform well both inshore and offshore – big enough to cope with living

Finally it’s out in the open… if not for all to see. Testing hard, long way to go Scow hull, foils, daggerboards, telescoping canting keel, rudder T-foils and, and, and… Full toyshop: scow hull, big foils and a stonking-looking rig. Not ready for the Transat, though Boat no3 now racing – a lot of Class40 for circa 375,000 euros
August 2019 onwards Sam Manuard takes the Class40 scow battle to Monsieur Raison (if perhaps less extreme) And behind the high curtain next to the first Mach 40.4 you will find her bête noire Contemporary-looking shorthanded tool par excellence… but with a full (if light) interior Late! Spruce hull, carbon structure and deck all weighing just eight tonnes

The biggest yet from Persico. Very light at 171 tonnes. Hybrid power for silent running Big, fast and fruity-looking new cruiser-racer from Rolfie. Will launch regatta ready
