FESPA fights back against Greenwashing with new guide
ESPA has found 53% of environmental claims are vague or misleading, having launched a new sustainability guide aimed at helping print businesses avoid greenwashing. The guide, Understanding and Avoiding Greenwash, provides practical advice on making clear, accurate and evidence-based sustainability claims. It comes as pressure grows from both
regulators and customers for greater transparency around environmental impact. Research highlighted the above fi gure, while 40% lack supporting evidence. It also warns that even technically true claims can be considered deceptive if they omit key information.
FESPA says the print sector faces particular risks when using terms such as “eco-friendly” or “biodegradable” without proper substantiation.
The guide encourages businesses to adopt a full lifecycle approach, considering the environmental impact of products from production through to disposal. With new UK and EU regulations on the horizon, FESPA says companies must ensure claims are clear, verifi able and supported by data to avoid reputational and legal risks.

Mr Beighton commented: “Kornit sits at the centre of one of the most important shifts happening in fashion today. “The industry is moving from inventory-heavy supply chains toward more agile, demand-driven production models. The convergence of retail, manufacturing, and on-demand fulfi lment is accelerating, and Kornit is uniquely positioned to enable this transformation.”
During his 12 years at ASOS, Beighton helped transform the business into a multi-billion-dollar global player, navigating rapid growth and signifi cant supply chain change. He will begin his advisory role on April 1 and is set to appear at Kornit’s Konnections 2026 event.
AI helps garment decorators streamline production
A
pparel decorators are increasingly adopting integrated software platforms to streamline production as demand for customised and on-demand garments grows.
Newer systems that connect procurement, workfl ow, logistics and ecommerce are helping reduce operational complexity, making it easier for businesses to scale effi ciently.
Early adopters are already seeing results. One North American producer fulfi lled 20,000 print-on-demand orders within its fi rst 30 days using a connected workfl ow, while Sweden-based TidyMerch achieved 100% year-on-year revenue growth by automating procurement and reducing excess inventory. In the US, Imperial Custom Apparel reduced product listing times from two hours to fi ve minutes, enabling a signifi cant increase in output.
Much of this improvement comes from greater visibility across operations. Linking storefronts with inventory and shipping systems allows decorators to better manage stock, avoid overproduction, and respond faster to demand. Just-in-time procurement is also helping free up working capital.
