Park Word

Hello and welcome to another (very busy!) issue of Park World.

P26

The sun is nearly out where I am in east London (you can tell by the bright reflection in the puddles!) but otherwise I spend my time looking at photos of water parks in far more pleasant locations wishing someone would hurry up and invent teleportation. In more grounded style, our stateside editor, Susan Storey, kicks the issue off with her ever-varied Park Hoppin’ column and also brings us a report on Disney’s visual experience that sees 800 drones ‘dance’ over Disney Springs: “It’s like animation in the sky.” I was fortunate enough to jump on a Zoom call with Chairman and CEO of ProSlide, Rick Hunter, who might genuinely be the most enthusiastic man in the industry! He started the company back when even I was young enough to be standing on my tiptoes trying to get onto the rides he created, so it was a real thrill to speak to him. I hope you enjoy the interview even though it’s but a tiny fraction of what we spoke about. Our key feature this issue focuses on some of the big names in Ticketing and Access Control but we’ve also managed to get plenty of other park World activity covered in our ample news and updates sections. My old nemesis, Baron Von Word Count, has caught up with me, so I’ll bid you farewell for now, and hope you can manage to get through everything we’ve laid on for you this month.

Enjoy. Matt
