CONTENTS Dear Reader,
Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today. If you’re a regular reader then you’ll be used to seeing Jonathan’s photo next to this column,
and I wish that I was able to introduce myself as the magazine’s new Managing Editor under happier circumstances.
Jonathan very sadly and completely unexpectedly passed away last month while on holiday in Cologne. He was Managing Editor of Education Today for 15 years, and during that time many of you will have come to know him as a wonderful person with a wealth of knowledge and passion for the education sector. Anna Pedroza, Director of Pedroza Communications, summed up Jonathan’s contribution to the industry perfectly: “We are lucky in education to have such a vibrant sector media, and Jonathan contributed a great deal to it. He helped to ensure journalism was of the highest standard and put a light on some really interesting practice, innovation and opinions.” Putting together this latest issue was a strange experience for the team behind the magazine, who worked so closely with Jonathan for such a long time, and it goes without saying that he’ll be very much missed by all.
As for me, someone who is entirely new to the education sector, taking over the role has been something of a baptism of fire. However, I’m looking forward to making new connections and building on the brilliant work Jonathan did over the years across this inspiring and crucially important sector.
