CONTENTS Dear Reader,

Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today. We have a bumper issue for you this month which we hope you will enjoy in the run up to Christmas, with three features looking at cultural education and its importance as a means to extending and enriching learning. In our first feature on the subject, we

hear from Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation (CSSF)’s Head of Creative and Programmes Francesca Ellis. CSSF held its first ever Film Festival this year, giving children across the country opportunity to learn new skills and bring Shakespeare to life through a bold new medium, and Francesca is on hand to tell us more about the Festival and the impact of the charity’s wider work in schools. Meanwhile, in our second look at the topic, we were delighted to catch up with Jacqui O’Hanlon, Director of Learning at the Royal Shakespeare Company, who explains how an arts rich education for all young people could be the key to unlocking potential in all learners, levelling the playing field and helping to narrow the attainment gap. Last but certainly not least, in our final piece we hear from film education charity Into Film, whose eighth Into Film Festival has officially wrapped after running from 10th –26th November in cinema venues across the UK. Elsewhere we have all our regulars on

hand to offer insight and advice, and a lovely View from the classroom from Charlotte Niekerk, Head of Care at The Grange Therapeutic School, Rutland, Leicestershire. Remember, we love to hear from you,

you can get in touch with us via Twitter @EdTodayMag, as well as by phone or email. With all that then, and the end of 2021

upon us, it just remains to all of us here at Education Today to wish you, our readers, a restful (and well-deserved!) Christmas break and to hope for brighter times in 2022. Merry Christmas and enjoy the issue!
