CONTENTS Dear Reader, Welcome to the latest issue!
Amid government plans to modernise the national curriculum, last month saw the publication of the Curriculum and Assessment Review Final Report. At 196 pages, it’s not exactly light reading, which is why our Spotlight Feature offers a summary of the review, its key recommendations, and next steps. Plus, our What the Experts Say section this month features plenty of responses to the review – and they’re certainly mixed.
As part of this month’s sustainability feature, Bloxham School’s Dr Claire Evans tells us how the Bloxham Sustainability Challenge is connecting education with industry as the demand for green skills accelerates Meanwhile, Michael Stausholm, Founder and CEO of SproutWorld, discusses how visual aids can play an important role in driving home sustainability messaging for students; and Rachel Barrett of Duncan & Toplis tells us why sustainability should be on trusts’ agendas. The sustainability theme is carried through into our regular Buildings, Maintenance & Refurbishment feature as we find out how architectural consultant Pick Everard is working towards net zero goals at Penwortham Girls’ School, while Emma Hesbrook, Head of Delivery for the Midlands and Wales at Pagabo, explores the decarbonisation challenge as it currently stands. Finally, in our Computing & IT feature, we discover the work being done by computing science teacher Toni Scullion – in partnership with St George’s School in Edinburgh – to get more girls into computing. We always love to hear from you, so please get in touch via email or @EdTodayMag on X. Enjoy the issue!
