CONTENTS In this issue... Dear Reader,
Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today, and welcome back to school! Now that schools are back in earnest, I’m sure many of you will be starting to think about how to help your students catch up on the learning they will have certainly lost out on (despite everyone’s best efforts) during the latest lockdown – this is an area we’ll be covering in a future issue and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it, particularly if (as seems likely) schools are left to make their own decisions on how best to achieve it. In the magazine this month our
feature focus is on recruitment, in particular on the effect the pandemic has had, and continues to have, on this important area of school life – in our first piece, Chetan Sood, Head of Operations at recruitment company Teacher Booker, offers some timely pointers on creating a short and long- term recruitment strategy; while in our second, Mike Donnelly, Managing Director at Premier Teachers, looks at the impact of coronavirus across the entire teacher recruitment landscape. We also take a look at technology in
and around the classroom, firstly in the company of PGCE student Paige Brown, who walks us around her fabulous virtual classroom; and in our second piece on the subject, Colin Hegarty, Education and UK Schools Director at Sparx, examines the remote learning landscape and highlights some of the lessons we can all take away from what has undoubtedly been a hugely challenging year for teachers, pupils and parents. Of course, there’s also all the regular content you have come to expect. Remember, we love to hear from you,
you can get in touch with us via Twitter @EdTodayMag and our homepage, as well as by phone or email.
Enjoy the issue!
