Dear Reader,
Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today. With the issues of teacher recruitment and retention now hitting the headlines (certainly not news to the readers of this magazine), this month we focus on how schools can manage the challenges associated with finding good teachers and keeping hold of them. For our first look at this issue, we welcome back Claire Barker, Head of Operations at outsourcing specialist, de Poel education, who explores how supply teaching can be a vital stepping stone for teaching professionals and provide a strategic, innovative and cost-effective solution for schools. In our second, we take soundings from a number of recruitment companies who offer their thoughts on the crisis and the best way of navigating your way through it. Finally, in the run up to the Education Show at the NEC this month, we preview that event – as always, we’ll be there and would love to see you! We have our regular contributors as always, and a great line up of comment and opinion to get you talking. Given our focus this month, we also continue our section on recruitment (for those of you looking and for those wishing to advertise positions), with some great jobs for you this month. Finally, we continue our series on the members of BESA (the UK trade body for suppliers to the education sector) with pieces from BSquared and SchoolIP. Remember, you can get in touch with us via Twitter @EdTodayMag, Facebook and our homepage, as well as by phone or email. We love hearing from you!
