EDUCATION SHOW PREVIEW - THEMES & SESSIONS

Two shows for the price of none I

n our first feature this month, we look ahead to The Education Show (NEC, Birmingham, 16-18 March), highlighting the main themes awaiting visitors to the show and some of the many sessions available free of charge.

For all schools, 2017 is set to be another year of continued pressure to raise standards with ever-decreasing budgets. Trying to balance these pressures with day-to-day demands means that

justifying any time away from the class to attend the show is hard to do. However, year-on-year, visitors say that they come away from the show feeling enriched with ideas and with a renewed enthusiasm to carry them through the year ahead. And this year, for the first time, Bett Academies will be running alongside The Education Show. This event has been launched to meet the increasing needs of those schools with, or converting to, academy status.

Bett Academies is set to be the national centre of excellence dedicated to providing the very best advice, guidance and inspiration to academies, MATs and schools exploring academisation. And of course, to keep you all updated on the progress of academies, National Schools Commissioner, Sir David Carter, will be presenting at 10:30 on Thursday 16 March, providing us with a progress update.

In addition to the numerous resource suppliers at both shows, giving you the opportunity to test their products, The Education Show, and now Bett Academies, are becoming increasingly recognised for their high-quality continuing professional development (CPD) programmes; and all free of charge. The CPD programme that runs throughout the three days of both events offers ideas, inspiration and insight to everyone from the teaching profession.

To give you a guided tour of some of the benefits of the show, you may want to start by reserving your seat at some of the free CPD sessions in the Central Feature Theatre and the Early Years and SEN Theatres of The Education Show and those within Bett Academies. All presentation theatres have a wide range of sessions, so please visit www.education- show.com and www.bettacademies.com to decide which ones are best suited your current needs.

Testing and assessment
