CONTENTS In this issue... 4-9 FEATURE: SCHOOL SUPPLIERS

A great selection to help your purchasing decisions 10-12 NEWS Highlights from the UK education sector 13 VIEWS

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today, the final one of the school year. This month, we’re focusing on the summer learning gap, with three features looking at what teachers and schools can do to mitigate its effects. In the first, we speak to Stephen Spriggs, Managing Director of William Clarence Education, who offers advice on keeping children learning during the summer months. We then hear from specialist awarding organisation VTCT about the value of summer training. In our third feature, Wayne Norrie, Chief Executive of Greenwood Academies Trust, looks at the ways schools can encourage a passion for learning beyond the classroom. Also in this month’s issue, we have a

special piece highlighting some of the many excellent school suppliers who we have worked with over the past year – we’re sure you’ll find something of interest. We continue our new section shining a spotlight on the many aspects of SEND with Asha Patel and Kate Sarginson, have Graham Cooper and Kirsty Bertenshaw as always offering insight and advice, and a great roster of commenters sharing their thoughts on the world of education. What’s more, we continue our section on

UK education writers, “From the pen of…”, with Professor Sue Roffey, internationally renowned author for her work on all aspects of school and student wellbeing. One final note – coming up September’s

issue, we’ll be looking at pedagogy, and highlighting some great examples of innovative teaching practice. If you’d like to take part or know someone who deserves to be recognised, you can get in touch with us via Twitter @EdTodayMag, Facebook and our homepage, as well as by phone or email. Have a great and well-deserved summer

holiday! Enjoy the issue!
