ega kwa Bega has long experience of further training for in-service teachaers. We aim to improve the standard of teaching country-wide. This is a tall order but it can be done working with all
stakeholders. The Professional Development Centre needs a Volunteer Manager who will set up this Centre, devise a programme for workshops to be held at weekends and holiday periods, and most importantly, to train a Ugandan to take over once the centre is up and running efficiently. The appointment is for 6 months to a year.
The appointment will be for a woman with long experience of Primary School teaching, preferably
having held a position of responsibility and experience with mentoring pupil teachers. She will have the ability to respect the culture and traditions of the country.
JOB DESCRIPTION
• To train a Ugandan to hold the Manager’s position
• To work with the staff of the Demonstration Nursery and Primary School staff on site.
• To complete setting up a teachers’ library and resource unit
• To work with a local University and teachers to design a programme for the professional development of in- service teaches, working towards a certificate based course.
• To give the teachers support in their classrooms
• To work towards bringing the message to outlying schools through the means of radio and television together with personal visits with van and equipment
The candidate will have the use of a small house with running water, electricity, a small kitchen, living room and bedroom.
