INTERVIEWWITH BLUM Q&A
just talking about sustainability, but managing it properly by measuring impact, setting targets and improving over time. It also ensures sustainability is part of day-to-day decision-making across the business.
Tell us about the ‘Blumble bees’! The ‘Blumble bees’ have become a bit of a talking point, but they reflect how we approach sustainability more broadly. It’s about biodiversity and supporting pollinators, but also about making sustainability something people can connect with. In the UK, we’ve taken that further by working with Ride High on workshops where children and volunteers can learn about bees and see inside the hives. That’s important to me,
because it turns sustainability from something abstract into something real. Something people can see, understand and take away with them
Are there any new initiatives planned? There’s always more to do, and we’re very conscious of that. Right now, the focus is on building a clearer picture of our impact across the full value chain and then reducing it. That includes emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3, improving how we use materials and working more closely with suppliers. It’s not about one initiative, but about moving things forward in a structured, measurable way. At the same time, we’ll continue to strengthen partnerships and support the communities we are part of.
Speaking more generally, what is Blum focused on right now? Right now, the focus is on making sustainability part of how we operate every day, not something that sits alongside the business, but something that runs through it. That means continuing to deliver high-quality, long-lasting products, while reducing environmental impact across everything we do. It also means making sustainability tangible, whether that’s through biodiversity projects, community partnerships, or simply improving how we work day-to-day. For me, the key is consistency. We’re not trying to position ourselves as perfect. We’re focused on doing the right things, improving where we can, and being honest about that progress.
