Worktop Fabricators go back to basics on workplace safety issues

it’s easy to overlook the practical basics: stone worktops only represent a health hazard when they are cut in the factory. So you need to get your factory management right. The Worktop Fabricators Federation, which represents Britain’s most

W

conscientious worktop manufacturers, has been working with the British Occupational Hygiene Society charity to create a hard-hitting message for the people on the fabricating front-line. “These punchy and impactful new posters sound a clear reminder that

health & safety is everybody’s responsibility,” says WFF director Andy Phillips. “It’s important for our customers, too, to know that behind our assurances about the safety and quality of their finishedworktops lies an absolute commitment to protecting and educating our workforce.” The new initiative draws on the BOHS’s extensive experience across

industry in developing simple messages to drive behavioural change. It uses prominent QR codes, so workers whose mother tongue is not English can scan the posters to access the same information in different languages. Alongside the posters, BOHS and WFF are collaborating on creating

a memorable new interactive training video which workers can access on their mobile phones.
