SERVICE HELPS TURN NET ZERO PLANS INTO REAL-WORLD RESULTS
OCS has launched OCS Energy Services, a dedicated and fully integrated business unit designed to turn Net Zero plans into real-world results through a full-lifecycle delivery model. The launch brings together OCS’s engineering, renewables, infrastructure and FM expertise under a single structured model, enabling customers to deliver measurable carbon reduction, energy savings, and long-term estate resilience. OCS Energy Services packages the organisation’s
existing energy and engineering capabilities into a clear, customer-ready offer, providing a full- lifecycle approach across five defined stages: Discover, Design, Deliver, Maintain and Optimise. This model gives estates and infrastructure owners
a consistent route from early assessment through to long-term operational performance, supported by OCS’s national engineering workforce and established FM delivery teams. Operating across the UK and Ireland, OCS
Energy Services will support both public and private sector estates, including NHS Trusts, education, local authorities, commercial portfolios, developers and infrastructure owners. According to the company, the offer spans everything from M&E upgrades, BMS optimisation and heat decarbonisation, to solar PV, battery energy storage, and high-voltage grid connections up to 132kV. EATON LAUNCHES AI-POWERED ENERGY MANAGEMENT AND OPTIMISATION SYSTEM
Eaton has announced Brightlayer Energy, an AI-powered energy management and optimisation system (EMOS) to help building owners manage, optimise and monetise energy investments, while meeting local regulatory requirements. The platform delivers real-time data analysis, forecasting and automated control to help maximise benefits from building electrical infrastructure and distributed energy resources. “Building environments everywhere are becoming increasingly complex with
diverse energy assets and evolving regional regulatory requirements – and digital tools are vital to simplify and improve energy management,” said Mark Roces, vice president, digital offer management at Eaton. “As a key part of our digital ecosystem for buildings that includes proven energy storage, microgrid control and electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, our Brightlayer Energy software provides the foundation to optimise building infrastructure investments and helps enable a reliable supply of low-cost, sustainable electricity, while meeting compliance obligations.” Implementations in Europe and North America demonstrate energy
efficiency, maintenance savings and emissions reductions. For example, the Florian Hotel in Amsterdam lowered electricity costs by more than 25% and reduced emissions by 27% while adding nine EV chargers. At an Eaton warehouse in South Carolina, the company used the software to save 17% on energy costs overall and reduced forklift charging costs 66%.
www.eaton.com COMMENT I
n light of the escalating conflict in the Middle East and energy infrastructure under significant threat, oil and gas prices have surged across the world,
affecting industries and the consumer. John Haw, CEO of Fidelity Energy (https://fidelity-
energy.co.uk/), commented: “We are already seeing commercial energy costs rise by around 25–30% in a matter of days. Businesses with exposure to market pricing are feeling that immediately, while others will see it feed through at renewal.”
This instability, however, means energy security has hit the headlines
again. Laura Gordon, partner of the Energy & Infrastructure team at Walker Morris (
www.walkermorris.co.uk), said: “The current instability in global energy markets has pushed energy security back to the top of the agenda. Alongside climate commitments, the economic and security case for increasing the pace of the transition to renewables is now clearer than ever… The UK has ambitious renewable generation targets, and speeding up delivery of these reforms is essential if we are to bring more projects through to financing and strengthen our long-term energy security.”

Energy Services at OCS, said: “Across the market, organisations know what needs to change, but too many plans stall between strategy and implementation. OCS Energy Services has been created to close that gap. “By combining engineering, energy and
FM expertise into one structured model, we give customers a partner who can uncover opportunities, design buildable programmes, deliver projects safely at scale, and ensure assets continue to perform long after installation. This is about turning net zero intent into practical, measurable action.”

DAIKIN PARTNERSHIP MEANS WORKS WITH HIVE CONNECTS TO 33% OF ASHP MARKET
Hive has announced a new partnership with Daikin through its Works With Hive programme, significantly expanding smart control compatibility with air source heat pumps and strengthening support for the UK’s growing low- carbon heating market. With the addition of
Daikin, Works With Hive now connects to approximately 33% of the UK air source heat pump (ASHP) market, giving more households access to seamless, smart control of low-carbon heating systems. The announcement builds on the successful trial previously launched between Hive and Daikin to integrate air source heat pumps with Hive’s home energy management technology. Through the Works With Hive programme, this collaboration now moves into a broader, long-term partnership, giving more customers access to integrated heating controls designed to optimise comfort, efficiency and cost savings. Tom Pakenham, commercial director of Hive commented: “The future of
low-carbon heating isn’t just about installing a heat pump – it’s about making sure it works brilliantly within the wider home energy system. That’s why bringing Daikin and Hive together is such an important step. “By expanding compatibility, we’re moving the industry beyond standalone technologies towards genuinely connected homes where heating, tariffs and smart controls work together to deliver savings and simplicity for customers.”
