Happy new year, I guess?


or anyone that dared hope that the new year might represent a clean break from the old one in terms of games industry restructuring, they didn't have to wait long to realise that things would be getting worse for a while longer yet. There's been a fresh batch of redundancy news for every day this year so far. Not a great start. But it's not all doom and gloom. Like the precious green shoot poking tentatively through the irradiated rubble of an apocalyptic hellscape, new businesses are being born and jobs are still being created - both of which feature in the pages ahead. And if it all becomes too much, you could always relocate to a sub-tropical island. We've got that covered too.
