Senior Combat Designer Project 007
MY FAVORITE ASPECT of working at IO is the opportunity to collaborate with highly skilled, friendly, and supportive colleagues. They consistently make time to offer assistance, and I learn something new from them every day. This is particularly impressive considering my 12+ years of experience in this industry. Within my craft of Game Design, I
serve as a conduit for contributions from various disciplines in order to enhance features. This role allows me to showcase the team’s work in the best possible light and gain a deeper, holistic, technical understanding of our games based on their contributions. Studying the implementation from
many talented developers, combined with my own curiosity, has given me a strong foundational knowledge of our engine, Glacier. This knowledge enables me to confidently tackle both known and unknown challenges, which is an empowering feeling. In short, I love building great games for
our players. With this high-quality team and the available technology, I get to do exactly that every day.
STARTING A NEW JOB always makes me nervous, and I often have questions such as: What are my colleagues like? What’s the studio culture? Is the project stable? I also have concerns that specifically
relate to me as a transgender person. Will I be welcomed and accepted? Will I be safe? These are common questions for
individuals from underrepresented groups, and the answers greatly impact employee well-being and reflect the overall studio culture. IOI was the first studio in my long
career where I joined as my authentic self, rather than a curated persona. Whether they were aware of it or not,
IOI had the significant responsibility of setting the tone for my reintroduction to the gaming industry. I ask myself once again, Will I be
safe? I’m delighted to say that one year into my time at IOI, they have exceeded expectations in welcoming, supporting, and appreciating me not only as a valued team member, but also as an individual. I feel safe.
I’M A SENIOR COMBAT DESIGNER on the 007 game! My focus is on creating an awesome combat experience that captures the essence of our Bond. I get to work with amazing people.
At IOI, it’s common to be working with some of the most experienced developers in the industry. Right now, I’m working with a lot of people that have over 15 years’ experience, and have worked on games like Cyberpunk, Assassin’s Creed and, of course, all the Hitman games! Honestly, I’ve been impressed by a
lot! When I first arrived in Copenhagen you can see how much the studio cares about its employees. Upon arriving you see huge spaces that are great to work in, awesome facilities and people whose job it is just to make sure you’re happy. You also get to travel lots! I’ve already
been to visit the Malmo, Barcelona, and Copenhagen office. Helps make me feel like an international spy traveling the world! On top of that top level leadership is
very accessible and approachable. I’ve already ended up having lunch with our CEO Hakan and chatting about combat while nerding out about Bond.”
