ChocoX: MODULAR TODAY. READY FOR TOMORROW
Bühler’s ChocoX is redefining chocolate moulding with a modular, plug-and- produce system that gives confectionery manufacturers unprecedented flexibility, faster product launches and more efficient production.
I
n an industry where innovation and agility define success, Bühler’s ChocoX stands at the forefront of chocolate moulding technology.
ChocoX is a completely modular moulding line designed to help confectionery manufacturers unlock a new level of production flexibility, efficiency and product diversity. Unlike traditional fixed moulding lines, ChocoX enables producers to adapt quickly to evolving market demands, whether they are making solid chocolates, filled pralines, bars, tablets (with or without inclusions), as well as one-shot or aerated products.
products, from simple solids to filled, one-shot and aerated, all with one line. Thanks to full modularity, the line can grow with the market and product demands. Adaptation to new formats or recipes has never been faster or simpler.
• Faster Time to Market – Modules can be added and swapped in no time and the automation system instantly recognizes the line configuration.
New modules
are already pre-commissioned, ready to produce. That’s why ChocoX grants quickest installation and startup times and enables customers to bring new products/formats to market up to five months faster than with conventional moulding lines.
• Changeovers on the fly – Thanks to the partial line running concept, format/ mould changeovers can be done while the line is running production at full speed, saving 50% downtime.
ChocoX was developed in response to key
industry challenges: the rising demand for product variety, shorter time-to-market requirements, and the constant pressure to optimize operational efficiency. Traditional moulding lines can be rigid and time-intensive to reconfigure, limiting producers’ ability to innovate rapidly. With ChocoX, Bühler has reimagined the moulding process around modularity and adaptability, enabling factories to stay agile in a competitive landscape. At its core, ChocoX embraces a “plug-and-
produce” concept that transforms the production line into a configurable system. Each module can be added, swapped or replaced with minimal downtime, which facilitates changeovers, grants highest flexibility and reduces the time to market for new products. Thanks to its patented modular design and a rail system, a line can be reconfigured in a matter of 30 to 120 minutes, compared with days or weeks on traditional systems.
What makes ChocoX the next-generation moulding solution? The latest ChocoX builds on its pioneering modular foundation with a suite of enhancements that translate directly into business benefits for customers: • Flexibility Meets Versatility – ChocoX supports an extensive range of chocolate

• Outstanding Cleanability & Food Safety – A chainless design and fully accessible modules set new standards in hygiene, reducing overall cleaning times by 70%, compared to traditional moulding lines.
• Continuous Production with Smart Buffering – The integrated buffering system maintains thermal consistency and keeps the line running for minimum 11 minutes during downstream interruptions – a game-changer for consistency and uptime.
• Reduced line height & optimized footprint – With a maximum height of 2.5 meters, ChocoX perfectly fits into the customer’s facility and allows for a mezzanine above the line. All peripheral equipment can be placed on the platform, saving valuable floor space in the factory.
As Marco Chialina, Head of Business Unit Confectionery at Bühler, explains: “Customers will not only be more agile in their production set-up and daily operations, but they can also take up consumer tastes much quicker than ever before while drastically increasing their efficiency.”
Why ChocoX matters in today’s world In today’s confectionery landscape, producers must be prepared for variability – from seasonal demands and limited-edition launches to customization for regional tastes. ChocoX answers these needs by empowering manufacturers with real-time configurability, lowering operational complexity and accelerating innovation cycles. Its modular architecture reduces total cost of ownership through easier cleaning, faster changeovers, and greater overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Moreover, with a smaller footprint and reduced
energy requirements, ChocoX aligns with broader industry trends toward sustainability and smart plant design. This is an essential consideration for forward-looking chocolate manufacturers.
ChocoX – A future-ready investment In a sector defined by creativity and precision, ChocoX redefines what a chocolate moulding line can do. It seamlessly blends innovative engineering with practical productivity advantages that matter to confectionery manufacturers worldwide. From versatility and uptime to efficiency gains and future scalability, ChocoX represents not just a machine upgrade, but a strategic asset for business growth. The strong market interest is already reflected in the first commercial successes, with four ChocoX lines sold. As the confectionery industry continues to
evolve, the newly upgraded ChocoX stands ready to help producers innovate faster, operate smarter and delight consumers with exceptional products. To explore the upgraded ChocoX in more detail, Bühler will showcase the ChocoX at the Interpack in May, offering insights into the modular concept and key technologies behind the moulding line.
In every sense, ChocoX is the future of moulding, engineered for success.
