Heraeus High Temperature Micro Platinum Heater Ideal for heating liquids, gases and solids that require quick, highly accurate localised heating. The Heraeus H540S micro platinum heater, available from ATC Semitec, consists of a Pt-thin-film structure on a thin ceramic substrate with platinum lead wires. This miniature heating element can be used over a wide temperature range from -25°C to +800°C and offers excellent long-term stability and precision. Only 5.2 x 3.9 x 1.0mm thick with 6mm long lead-wires, the H540S micro-heater is suitable for applications in industrial process technology, bio-

medical equipment, personal care, white goods and the automotive sector. They can provide precise controlled heating in medical sample heating in analytical and

laboratory equipment or add an extra heat input within the additive manufacturing process. Specifically, they are already being used within the e-cigarette market and for inhalators and evaporators in personal care.

The Heraeus H540S forms part of a comprehensive range of Heraeus Platinum sensor elements, available from ATC Semitec Ltd.

Overcoming EMI and Thermal Management Challenges of Fully Autonomous Vehicles

As the automotive industry moves toward more automated, connected vehicles, engineers are challenged to identify technologies that can process and transfer large volumes of data in real-time without adding significantly to the price of the vehicle. For example, Level-5 autonomous driving requires a combination of: • radar • Lidar • video camera technology

• On-board computer systems to perform highly complex functions. Accommodating all the necessary cameras, sensors and electronic control units (ECUs) that enhance connectivity and ensure autonomous vehicle safety has proven to be problematic due to the resulting electromagnetic interference (EMI) and excess heat being generated by the growing complement of electronic devices, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Parker Chomerics is aggressively responding to both challenges with EMI shields and thermal management technologies that contain the electromagnetic noise and

transfer heat away from critical components. For more information visit: www.parker.com/chomerics

New smart displays at Engineering Design Show - Reconnect

Designing a product with a colour TFT display and touch-screen does not have to be complex. By using the new EA uniTFTs displays from Electronic Assembly the projects get off to a flying start. With integrated graphics controller, extensive graphics functions and USB, I²C and SPI interfaces, the displays are ready to run without additional peripherals. All touch and display functions can be freely programmed using the new uniTFTDesigner Windows software tool. The IDE boasts a simple drag-and-drop interface, comes with a simulator and numerous ready to run examples. Available display sizes for the EA uniTFTs are 2.0", 2.8", 3.5" and 4.3" diagonal. The larger EA uniTFT are available in sizes 5.0”, 7.0” and 10.1”.

The EA uniTFT(s) displays use improved IPS-Panels with AACS technology (All Angle Colour Stability). This means contrast and colours are retained even at extreme viewing angles. High brightness, typ. 1,000 cd/m² and more, the displays are readable in direct sunlight
