Identity Proofi ng in iGaming

Roger Redfearn-Tyrzyk, Director Global Gaming and Sales UK/I at IDnow highlights the key role the identity proofi ng platform plays in keeping up with compliance and AML requirements and increasing conversion rates.

I

Dnow, a leading identity proofi ng platform provider in Europe, follows a vision of making the connected world a safer place. The IDnow platform provides a broad portfolio of identity verifi cation solutions, ranging from automated to human-assisted from purely online to point-of-sale. The platform empowers companies on their way to fully digital processes by adding a paperless and completely digital identity verifi cation to their user journey, and enabling clients to achieve signifi cantly higher volumes of sign-ups. Roger Redfearn-Tyrzyk, Director Global Gaming and Sales UK/I at IDnow, joined the company in 2019 from GB Group. Prior to that, he worked in various roles in the software industry at purple WiFi, Duuzra Software, and Lord Sugar’s Amscreen. “Thanks to these professional experiences, I would consider myself to be a longstanding expert in gambling and identity verifi cation with a broad experience in know your customer (KYC), anti-money laundering (AML) and Software as a Service (SaaS). In my current role, I enable businesses to offer their users an easy, intuitive and secure onboarding process via the IDnow identity platform,” he says.

COMPLIANCE AND REGULATION Redfearn-Tyrzyk says “Our platform solves two

big needs of the iGaming world. We can securely verify a player’s identity, including age verifi cation, and we offer proof of address and AML checks, thus making the online gaming industry a safer place for everyone. Once iGaming customers register on the gaming website or app, they will be directed to our identifi cation process – depending on regulations, this can either be done via a fully automated process, i.e., via our IDnow AutoIdent, or via an agent-assisted video chat process, our VideoIdent solution. To ensure a high level of data protection, our ident and fraud specialists are based in the European Union, as are our data centres. In addition, thanks to our dedicated regulatory team, we are able to offer a platform that is compliant across the globe.”

Compliance and regulation continue to shape the iGaming industry, and IDnow’s platform can help businesses keep up with the rapidly changing compliance and AML requirements. “Our industry has changed a lot for the good of the players in the past few years, especially when looking at compliance, Responsible Gambling and AML requirements. Operators are taking these changes to heart and our AML-compliant IDnow solutions help them achieve this. In our industry, it is extremely important to stay ahead of regulation changes and malicious actors to make sure that our customers and their players are as secure as possible while also enjoying a pleasant user experience,” says Redfearn-Tyrzyk. “In large part we keep up with the changes thanks to our dedicated regulatory team, which is very much ahead of the game and in constant exchange with the relevant regulatory bodies. This close relationship helps us to consistently develop new features that make it easier for us and our customers to adapt to changing regulatory landscapes. Our platform approach with our VideoIdent, AutoIdent, eID, and Near Field Communication (NFC)-based solutions is quite helpful for this, since we can provide every operator with a tailor-made solution and customise the solution to their needs and requirements without having to start from scratch.”

CONVERSION

“The onboarding process needs to be as easy as possible to optimise conversion rates. iGaming players may not remember a great

onboarding experience with their gaming platform; what they will remember is a terrible onboarding experience. Even worse for gaming services are players who abandon the onboarding process right in the middle of it because it is too lengthy or too complicated or simply doesn’t work properly. This is where our solutions come in to make the digital onboarding process scalable, secure and highly assured. IDnow AutoIdent, for example, offers conversion rates of up to 90 percent,” says Redfearn-Tyrzyk.

THE FUTURE OF IDNOW The recent SBC Summit Barcelona introduced

attendees to a new era of technology and the highly-debated concept of the metaverse. Redfearn-Tyrzyk, who was a key speaker at the event, said: “In my opinion, the metaverse will provide a huge opportunity for organisations to introduce new features and games in the future. Operators need to realise this sooner rather than later. It should be their goal to stay ahead of these developments to reap the biggest rewards of what is sure to be a large revenue stream. In terms of technological advancements, we are expecting the introduction of a reusable digital identity within a wallet framework in the next few years. This will become a huge topic not only for gaming but for many different sectors, including mobility, hospitality and ecommerce, due to developments within the European Union and the UK. Both regions are currently actively working on and pursuing digital identity frameworks that will make reusable identities a reality for a large majority of the population. This development will make player onboarding even more seamless and more secure.” “We will keep growing with our existing customers and prospects into new territories around the globe while adding new products to provide the iGaming industry with the best-in- class products possible; defi nitely one to keep an eye out for in 2023. Secondly, we will expand into the metaverse and are fully ready to embark on this exciting new journey that the metaverse provides us with. And lastly, we want to rewrite the story of how to approach operators, taking their specifi c needs into account and offering solutions that suit them best,” he adds.
