AIRPORT AND FINLAND METRO Caverion has won a major projects at the airport in Frankfurt am Main in Germany and at Espoo metro in Finland


C


averion, as part of a joint venture led by Lindner AG, will deliver technical solutions for the first section of the new Terminal 3, Pier G, at the airport in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Frankfurt Airport is the biggest airport in Germany and the fourth busiest airport for passenger traffic in Europe. Caverion's delivery includes the


project management and execution for the following technical disciplines: cooling, heating and sanitation; ventilation and air conditioning; and fire protection. The value of the contract is approximately €30.6m. The entire Terminal 3 will include 300,000m2


of gross floor area for


passenger handling, lounge areas, catering and office space. According to current plans, up to 21 million passengers per year can depart from or arrive at the new airport area after


completion of Terminal 3 in 2023. In terms of sustainability, the new terminal sets standards - thanks to its efficient design and modern technology, it hardly needs any heating energy. The process heat will be used for the heating of the building. “The trust placed in us by our customer is a great pleasure to us. It shows that Caverion is a sought-after partner for building systems. Our customers appreciate that we offer the installation of all disciplines – as well as technical maintenance and managed services,” says Frank Krause, executive vice president, Caverion Germany. Caverion's delivery has begun and will be completed by the end of 2021.


METRO CONTRACT The company has also signed a project agreement with the TYL LM Finnoo consortium for HVAC technical systems at West Metro Finnoo station in Espoo, Finland. The developer of the project is


Länsimetro, and Caverion's contract is worth approximately €7m. Caverion is responsible for the


implementation of the HVAC contract, which includes installation of the cooling, heating and sanitation, and ventilation and air conditioning systems on the station and in the tunnels.

The TYL LM Finnoo works covers


building the Finnoo underground metro station, a service tunnel and connecting tunnels,º as well as exits on Meritie and Finnoonsilta. Access shafts for engineering works will be built to the east and to the west, and a firefighting shaft will also be provided. The facilities under construction cover an area of approximately 22,000m2


. The contract


will be completed in 2022 and the entire second phase of the West Metro is expected to be completed in 2023, when the Matinkylä-Kivenlahti section will be handed over to the metro operator Helsinki City Transport, HKL. The Finnoo district of Espoo will be a


17,000-inhabitant district extending from Länsiväylä to the seashore, with the metro station in its centre.
