KOLLMORGEN EXPANDS HAZARDOUS AREA PORTFOLIO

ollmorgen has introduced the AKME Series of hazardous location servo motors with ATEX and IECEx global cer- tification for use in locations that require Zone 2 and Zone 22 ratings. Built on the proven performance, quality and reliability of the AKM servo motor platform, the AKME series allows machine builders to achieve new standards of compact, versatile performance in environments involving ignitable gases or dusts, where their choices have been limited until now. To suit a wide range of application require- ments, AKME servo motors are available in IEC frame sizes 2-7 to work with drives pow- ered by 48, 75 Vdc, 120, 240 or 400 Vac, speeds up to 5,000 rpm. The series supports a wide range of feedback options, including resolver, SFD-M, ComCoder, EnDat, Hiper- face and BiSS B options. The motors are also ideally matched with AKD, AKD2G and Kollmorgen Essentials (KED) servo drives to deliver optimum torque density, responsive- ness and precision in a complete, feature-rich motion solution.

“We are delighted to extend our renowned line of AKM servo motors into a wide range of hazardous location applications,” said Chris Cooper, global director, Product Management. “We have always offered the highly regarded Goldline, PMDC EP and MX Stepper series explosion-proof motors, but now with the AKME series we are serving many more customers, applications and in- dustries. With AKME servo motors, engineers have greater flexibility than ever before to fit

“We’re incred- ibly grateful to our partners who share our vision and com- mitment to safety, quality, and innov- ation,” said Bill Earlie, commercial

sales manager at PENTA Electrical Safety Products. “This inaugural awards ceremony is our way of celebrating the collaborative spirit that makes our collective success possible.”

PENTA Electrical Safety Products looks forward to building on these strong relationships as it continues to expand its footprint and develop cutting-edge safety solutions for critical infrastructure and indus- trial markets.

a more cost-effective, HazLoc motor to their Zone 2 and Zone 22 machine applications rather than forcing a larger, overspecified Zone 0 or Zone 1 motor into their design.” The AKME series joins Kollmorgen’s ex- isting portfolio of motors for hazardous environments with extensive global certifica- tions. It has earned ATEX certification under the European Union safety standard for equipment used in potentially explosive en- vironments, including gas Zone 2 and dust Zone 22 locations. It has also earned IECEx certification under the global standard that ensures the safety of equipment and person- nel in explosive atmospheres, as established by the International Electrotechnical Com- mission (IEC).

These certifications make AKME servo motors a strong fit for applications found in pharmaceutical production, food processing, grain elevators, industrial paint booths, and other settings where ignitable gases or dusts may be encountered.

lectrical test and measurement specialist Mar- tindale Electric has extended its wide-ran- ging Multimeter offer- ing with an accurate and cost-effective new unit, safety rated at BS EN61010-1 CAT III 600V - the MM67.

The MM67 is an auto-ranging True RMS Multim- eter, ideal for troubleshooting electrical systems. It measures AC and DC voltages up to 600V and AC and DC currents up to 10A, the True RMS function providing accurate results even when measuring dis- torted waveforms. Resistance measurements can also be made to a maximum of 66MΩ.

This feature-packed Multimeter includes a diode test, min/max and relative mode, duty cycle meas- urement, incorrect connection warning, frequency measurement to 66MHz and capacitance to 66mF. Plus, an audible continuity test.

Keeping the end user in mind, Martindale Electric has made the MM67 Multimeter easy to operate, with a generously sized rotary switch for selection of measurement functions and a large backlit 3.5- digit LCD display screen. The rugged, moulded case protects against damage in harsh operating environ- ments. Additionally, the auto-power-off feature (ap- proximately 30 mins) will help conserve battery life. The MM67 comes complete with TL16 test leads, a spare 0.5A/500V fast-acting ceramic fuse and an installed 9V battery.
