ollowing the UK exit from the EU, industry now has a deadline of 1 January 2023 to implement a transition from CE to UKCA Marking. Within


the UK, the EU’s ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU will be replaced with the Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2016, which has been amended to UKSI 2019:696 (a UK Statutory Instrument) and is now known within the industry as “UKCA Ex or UKEX approval”.
