he event is well-established as one of the most important showcases for industrial technology in the UK. The announcement of the new dates was met with extensive approval, prompting record re-bookings for 2017. The 2016 exhibition attracted more than 8,600 visitors, setting a new high water mark for the event. With enhanced accessibility and investment in local infrastructure nearing completion, the organisers expect to see a further significant increase in visitor numbers for 2017. Conveniently located adjacent to the M3 in Hampshire and well-served by public transport, the show is an outstanding chance to discover a wide range of
companies and industrial technologies in a single, time-efficient v isit.

Dividedmore or less equally between electronics andmanufacturing, the show plays host to an enormous variety of manufacturers, vendors and service providers. In 2016 a little over 800 companies fromall over the world showcased their wares in the 18,000m² venue. Among themost popular
attractions for visitors - accounting for almost 50 per cent in 2016 - components and OEMparts are one of the key features of the show. SouthernManufacturing has grown sufficiently important that it now attracts vendors fromall over the world, offering an outstanding opportunity to meet companies and products you wouldn’t normally expect to see at a domestic show.

components. The show hosts numerous global brand names, together with hundreds of smaller suppliers between them catering for pretty much every conceivable need. Igus UK returns with live demonstrations of its maintenance- free lightweight bearings and cable management systems. Highlighted will be its new Compact Rotation Module, a system that guides power, signal and fluid power lines through rotational movement. Another well-known name in cable management, Kabelschleppe Metool, showcases an impressive range of solutions from miniature parts for electronic printers to huge steel carriers for the oil industry. Highlights this year include its TraxLine dynamic cabling systems, and TotalTrax complete turnkey solutions.

Three new product ranges will be launched at the show; a range of power clamps designed for automotive applications, a range of 316 stainless steel products for the oil and gas industries, including ATEX- certified filters, regulators and valves, and a comprehensive range of vacuum components. Hydraulic and pneumatic systems can also be found on the stand shared by The West Group and Meta l Work UK. Examples include hydraulic components, actuators, EB80 valves and control units.
Within the ever-popular Machinery Zone you can see the latest machinery from leading manufacturers such as Yamazaki Mazak, Matsuura, Haas Automation and XYZ Machine Tools being put through their paces. There’s also a huge collection of tooling and production hardware, including
metrology equipment from firms such as Bowers Group, Nikon, Renishaw and Faro Technologies. There are speciality oils and fluids from Q8 Oils and Wyse Oils, plus an amazing range of sensors, control systems, connectors, enclosures and other hardware from firms such as Bernstein, CamdenBoss, Variohm
Eurosensor, Binder, Zikodrive Motor Controllers and hundreds more.

ECHNICICAL SEMINAR PROGRAMME The free technical seminar programme that runs over three days in two theatres is another important element of the show. The programme for 2017 provides its usual high standard of presenters drawn fromindustry, academia and commerce. A total of 28 sessions over three days will address a wide range of technical, business and regulatory topics; bjects that will appeal to everybody involved in engineering enterprise. Some of the hot topics covered in 2017 wil l include an in-depth look at advanced manufacturing and 3D Printing, enclosure design, Industry 4.0 and the regulatory implications of the Brexit vote.
